  • Guard Your Heart (Be Careful How You Talk)

The Bible says a lot about how we talk and the important role our speech plays in our lives. In the post entitled “Guard Your Heart (How to Keep Yourself from Sin),” I talked about the importance of replacing bad (i.e. worldly) input sources with good ones. Flooding your life with positive influences while ridding…

  • Guard Your Heart (Choosing Healthy Music)

In the post “Guard Your Heart (How to Keep Yourself from Sin),” I discussed the importance of listening to GOD-focused music. People sometimes ask me for recommendations of good, positive music, so I thought I’d address that today. Musical taste is one of those very personal, unique things in life that varies wildly between individuals.…

  • Guard Your Heart (How to Keep Yourself from Sin)

The Bible is full of wisdom about man’s heart. Not the blood-pumping one, the one that controls our emotions, feelings, motivations and reason. Consider the instructions of Solomon: 20 My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words.21 Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your…

His first few recorded actions as king are to deal with problems that arose prior to his taking the throne. Solomon had his brother Adonijah executed because Adonijah asked to…

  • May 9 – Seeing GOD in the Psalms (Part 21)

Reading Psalm 2; 22; 27 Devotional Today we begin looking at the Messiah as revealed in the Psalms. In doing so, however, we continue our focus on seeing GOD and His character. Psalm 2 Kings and rulers plot against the LORD and His Anointed One, but GOD, who is enthroned in heaven, laughs and makes…

  • May 6 – Seeing GOD in the Psalms (Part 18)

Reading Psalm 4; 12; 20; 25; 32; 38 Devotional We are now entering the next grouping of psalms which covers a variety of feelings from the believer directed toward GOD. Psalm 4 GOD is righteous and there are times where we long for Him to answer our cry. He has set apart the godly for…

Reading Psalm 119 Devotional At 176 verses, Psalm 119 is the longest “chapter” in all of GOD’s word. The focus of this psalm is on the importance of the word of GOD and His law, and upon obeying it. GOD has given us commands that are to be fully obeyed. A young man may keep…
