Principle
GOD is self-existent.
Explanation
The Bible asserts that GOD exists entirely from His own power and energy. GOD needs nothing in order to live.
24 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. 25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.
Acts 17:24-26 NIV
28 So then, have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the God who created the ends of the earth, neither hungers nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. 29 He gives strength to the hungry, and sorrow to those who do not grieve. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the elect shall be without strength. 31 But those who wait on God shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not hunger.
Isaiah 40:28-31 OSB
1 An ode of ascents.
Psalm 120 [121]:1-5 OSB
I lifted my eyes to the mountains; From where shall my help come?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
3 Let not your foot be moved;
Neither let Him who keeps you slumber.
4 Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord shall keep you;
The Lord is your shelter at your right hand.
The concept of a living being not requiring any external food or energy source is completely foreign to the natural world. Therefore, it is normal for this principle to feel uncomfortable.
And yet, is it not logical that life, energy and power must start somewhere? If we work backwards through the so-called food chain, once we get to the smallest and lowest lifeform on earth, we are still left with the question of how that organism gets life and energy. Ultimately, the chain of consumption from external sources must stop and the only logical explanation is that there exists an all-powerful and never-ending life source from which all power and energy and life flows.
That would be GOD.
