Devotional

Today we begin looking at the Messiah as revealed in the Psalms. In doing so, however, we continue our focus on seeing GOD and His character.

Psalm 2

Kings and rulers plot against the LORD and His Anointed One, but GOD, who is enthroned in heaven, laughs and makes fun of them. He rebukes them in anger and terrifies them in His wrath. The LORD said to His Son, "You are my Son; today I have become your Father." Let the kings be wise and serve the LORD with fear and kiss the Son, lest He be angry and destroy them, for His wrath can flare up at any moment. Blessed are those who take refuge in the Son.

Psalm 22

The Messiah cries out, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken Me?" GOD is enthroned as the Holy One, the praise of Israel. GOD brought the Messiah out of the womb and made Him trust in the Father from the time He was an infant. From birth GOD has been the Messiah's God. The Father is the strength of the Son and His help. GOD has not despised or disdained the suffering of the afflicted One, nor hidden His face from Him, but has listened to His cry for help. Dominion belongs to the LORD and He rules over the nations.

Psalm 27

The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life. Even though war break out against me, I will not be afraid. The LORD is beautiful. In the day of trouble He will keep me safe in His dwelling; He will hide me in the shelter of His tabernacle and set me high upon a rock. GOD has been my helper, my Savior, and my teacher.
