The Lord's Supper
- When Jesus set up the memorial we call the Lord's Supper, what day of the week was it (according to the Jewish calendar)?
- Was the Last Supper the actual Passover meal (Ex. 12)? Defend your answer.
- According to Scripture, what is the purpose of the Lord's Supper?
- We know that the Lord's Supper elements were "bread" (Matt. 26:26-27; Mark 14:22; Luke 22:19; 1 Cor. 11:23-24) and "fruit of the vine" (Matt. 26:29; Mark 14:25; Luke 22:18) from a "cup" (Matt. 26:26-27; Mark 14:23; Luke 22:20; 1 Cor. 11:25-26). Since GOD has specified the elements of the Lord's Supper, how would He view us substituting other elements?
- Does Scripture specify that Jesus used unleavened bread?
- If yes, list the passage(s).
- If no:
- Do you believe that Jesus used unleavened bread? Explain how you reached your conclusion.
- Would it be wrong to use leavened bread for the Lord's Supper?
- Do you believe that Jesus used unleavened bread? Explain how you reached your conclusion.

- Would it be acceptable to use wine for the Lord's Supper today? Explain.
- Does GOD "command" Christians when (or how frequently) they should observe the Lord's Supper?

- How frequently should Christians observe the Lord's Supper? Explain how you reached your conclusion.

- Suppose you are traveling on a Sunday and are unable to assemble with other Christians. Assuming you had the elements, would you observe the Lord's Supper by yourself? Why or why not?
