Devotional

Starting today we look at psalms of joy and praise.

Psalm 8

GOD's name is majestic in all the earth. He has set His glory above the heavens. GOD is mindful of man and cares for us. GOD has made man a little lower than the angels and has crowned him with glory and honor. GOD put everything on earth under man's feet.

Psalm 9

GOD has done many wonders. He is most high. GOD has upheld me and my cause. He judged righteously. GOD reigns forever. He will judge and govern the people of earth with righteousness and justice. GOD is a refuge for the oppressed and a stronghold in times of trouble. He has never forsaken those who seek Him. GOD avenges blood and does not ignore the cry of the afflicted. The LORD is known by His justice.

Psalm 16

GOD has given us our portion and our cup. He has made our lot secure and given us a pleasant inheritance. GOD gives me counsel. He prevents me from being shaken when I keep Him ever before me. He will not abandon me to the grave. He has made known to me the path of life. He fills me with joy in His presence and with eternal pleasures at His right hand.

Psalm 19

GOD has pitched a tent for the sun in the heavens. The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. His statutes are trustworthy, making the simple person wise. GOD's precepts are right, giving joy to the heart. His commands are radiant, giving light to the eyes. The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. GOD is my rock and my redeemer.

Psalm 21

Kings rejoice in the strength of the LORD, and they take great joy in the victories GOD gives. GOD gave the king great glory, splendor and majesty. He made the king glad with His presence. GOD has unfailing love towards the king and prevents him from being shaken. GOD will swallow up the king's enemies and consume them with His fire. He will destroy their descendants from the earth. GOD is mighty in strength.

Psalm 24

GOD owns the entire earth and everything in it, including all the people. GOD founded the earth upon the seas. The person who worships GOD and not idols will receive blessing and vindication from the LORD. GOD is the almighty King of glory.
