Devotional

Psalm 40

GOD hears our cry. He lifts us out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire and sets our feet upon a rock. He gives us songs to sing so that people will see and fear and trust in Him.

Psalm 49

This psalm focuses on the reality that wealth and prosperity perish after death but righteousness is to be valued higher than these. GOD will redeem my life from the grave and take me to Himself. "A man who has riches without understanding is like the beast that perish."

Psalm 50

GOD is mighty, He speaks and summons the earth from sunrise to sunset. GOD shines forth from Zion. He will not be silent. A fire devours before Him and the storm rages around Him. GOD judges His people. He alone is judge. He has no need of animal sacrifices for He owns all things. If we give thanks to Him and fulfill our vows He will deliver us in the day of trouble and we will honor Him. GOD rebukes the wicked and accuses him to his face. GOD will tear to pieces those who forget Him.

Psalm 73

GOD is good to those who are pure in heart. Though the wicked may prosper in life they have a tragic ending, for GOD places them on slippery ground and casts them to ruin. GOD upholds the right hand of the persistent righteous one. Once they have died GOD takes the righteous to His glory. GOD is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. This is a most beautiful Psalm.
