Devotional

Before GOD gave Moses the instructions regarding the tabernacle and its furnishings, He said:

And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them. According to all that I show you, that is, the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings, just so you shall make it.
(Ex. 25:8-9 NKJV)

Then GOD proceeded to give Moses very specific instructions about how to build everything associated with the tabernacle. GOD gave Moses an exact pattern for how each piece should be built. Moses had to do exactly as GOD said in order to please Him. He couldn’t take what GOD said and modify it or change just a little piece to suit his personal preferences. No, it had to be exactly as GOD said.

When GOD gives us a pattern in His word, we must follow that pattern as closely as we possibly can. When GOD specifies what is to be done we are to do what He says. When He specifies how He wants it done we are to do what He says exactly how He says do it.

The Veil

There is one aspect of the tabernacle that was especially significant. It was a veil (a curtain) "woven of blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine woven linen." (Ex. 26:31) This veil was to be hung as a divider between the holy and the Most Holy sections of the tabernacle. Only the high priest could enter behind the veil of the tabernacle into the Most Holy place, and he could go in only one day each year—the Day of Atonement.

The veil of the tabernacle represented the separation that existed between GOD and man. GOD is the Most Holy being and humans are unholy because of our sins. Isa. 59:2 says, "But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear."

The veil was in place throughout the days of the old covenant, until Jesus died upon the cross. When Jesus died on the cross the veil of the temple was torn in two. This signified the removal of the separation between GOD and man. Because of Jesus we can once again have fellowship with Most Holy GOD.
